St. Louis Cardiology Consultants Ltd. was formed in 1977 by Dr. William Hinkley and Dr. Edward Weiss for the purpose of providing cardiology consultative services as hospital-based physicians and has grown to 22 providers (15 Doctors, 7 Nurse Practitioners). The intention of our corporation has always been to provide a complete cardiovascular, diagnostic, and therapeutic program for the patients who live in the Missouri and Illinois Bi-State area. St. Louis Cardiology Consultants introduced the first community-based cardiac catheterization facility in the St. Louis Metropolitan area and was instrumental in bringing an open-heart surgical program into a community hospital setting. The goal of the organization has been to be both patient oriented, in order to provide longitudinal care for chronic cardiac problems, as well as to institute cardiology interventions for those with acute diseases. Patients are seen in conjunction with their primary care physician so as to provide an integrated care program.

Most of the cardiologists of St. Louis Cardiology Consultants are primarily educated in the St. Louis area at the two teaching facilities, Washington University and St. Louis University. Several of the doctors are, or have been part of a teaching clinical faculty. The practice of cardiology is ever changing and dynamic. For this reason, St. Louis Cardiology Consultants continues to actively expand its medical personnel with new physicians who provide new skill sets to augment our cardiovascular expertise.

St. Louis Cardiology Consultants currently has 15 board certified cardiologists who specialize in various areas of cardiology. All of our cardiologists are qualified to provide a wide range of services in cardiovascular medicine including cardiology consultation, echocardiogram, heart rhythm monitoring, exercise stress testing, diagnostic heart catheterization, balloon angioplasty and stent insertion, insertion of cardiac hemodynamic support devices, pacemaker insertion, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) insertion, non-surgical replacement of aortic valve, non-surgical closure of congenital heart defects, as well as diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

St. Louis Cardiology Consultants is presently practicing in the Illinois and Missouri Bi-State area with cardiologists functioning in consultative practices at multiple regional hospitals. The practice provides services in Madison, St. Clair, St. Louis, and St. Charles Counties. We see patients in nine different offices throughout the Bi-State area, which allows patients to have convenient access to our providers across the region to be seen and evaluated in a timely manner. Our cardiologists have admitting privileges at Christian Northeast Hospital, Alton Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, and Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
